Founded in 2022 by Alexander Mihalič and Teresa Rosenberg, Alter Instruments is at the forefront of innovation in the field of augmented instruments. With flagship products such as Sampo and Modalio, and thanks to an approach focused on the harmonious fusion of tradition and technology, Alter Instruments offers musicians a new dimension of artistic expression.
The autonomy of the performer and the preservation of his or her acoustic instrument are at the heart of Alter Instruments’ approach. The company offers intuitive instruments that meet performers’ needs, and supports musicians through training courses, educational content and a diversified repertoire. The team is driven by the desire to give performing musicians the possibility of controlling the electronic part of a performance themselves, and to rediscover the pleasure of playing music.
Alter Instruments products are handcrafted in Saint-Etienne, France, from the design of custom components, through programming of dedicated software, to manual assembly and finishing.
